Financing in the Transport sector

The transport sector has evolved considerably over the last 20 years. The change in regulations allowing foreign cabotage as well as the rise of own-account transport to the detriment of transport for third parties, accentuated since the 2009 crisis, are the main causes of this evolution.

The biggest players are managing to get out of the game by developing related activities such as logistics, but the smallest are much more vulnerable to the increase in their cost price such as fuel, taxes and insurance. They are also more vulnerable to their customers in terms of revaluing their rates in a very competitive context.

There is also a significant development of light commercial vehicles for local freight, notably linked to the explosion of sales on the Internet.
