Fish farming

For example, Atlantic Salmon is kept in large cages (20 m by 20 m) made of nylon nets and installed in protected areas of the coast. They are fed daily with specially prepared food. Protected from birds and other fish, the salmon grow rapidly and most survive to marketable size. Raising fish in earthen or concrete ponds allows for greater control of production.
Trout, carp, channel catfish and many other species are fed with prepared feed or natural feed from fertilizing the pond water. The fish's environment is improved by adding water, aerating the water or treating it with chemicals.
